I seldom write bad reviews as I’m a customer service employee myself and I don’t like being a Karen but frankly, I’m frustrated as heck. I contacted the diner in April to see if they were going to be open on Memorial Day. It happened to fall on my birthday this year and I wanted to celebrate at Rise N Shine if possible. I was prepared for them to tell me they would be closed, which I would understand. But instead the General Manager emailed me personally to tell me they would be open and asked to set a reservation time. I was pleasantly surprised, as they usually don’t take reservations but I thought maybe he was just going above and beyond since I mentioned it would be my birthday. I emailed him back saying it would be 4 people at 10:30 and never got an email back. I didn’t think twice about it, just thought he finessed the reservation in somehow and went about my day. Now it’s the day before my birthday, and I go online to see they aren’t even going to be open?? It’s too late to go today, and I’m going to be out of town a few days after. I’m just super disappointed. I was very excited about celebrating my birthday here just to be played by the general manager. I wish I had just been told the truth from the beginning so I could’ve planned something else or planned around it!
